The Canada Greener Homes Grant is a limited-time opportunity to save money on the installation of heat pumps. How can you get the rebate from the government?
If you qualify for the program, your first step is to register for a pre-upgrade evaluation of your home (Primipair can coordinate on your behalf and will send an energy advisor to your home to do the evaluation if you do not have your own auditor).
A registered energy advisor will visit your home for the pre-upgrade evaluation. Then, you'll receive a list of recommendations for improving your home's efficiency (in this case, it will be upgrading to a heat pump system).

After Primipair completes the heat pump upgrades, a post-upgrade evaluation with your energy advisor will be scheduled. The advisor will ensure that you have made the necessary upgrades and will assess the amount of energy savings the upgrades will account for. Primipair will guide you in every step of the process; however, you might be required to submit documents to the government as proof of the work you funded.
When your post-upgrade evaluation is complete, you can submit the information in the Home Efficiency Rebate online portal. This will confirm the total amount of your grant. Then, you'll receive your reimbursement check of up to $7,100 in the mail.

The $6,280 + HST = $7,096.40 price of a heat pump is for a Gree® Flexx® 38,000 BTU 3-ton heat pump and a Carrier® Ecobee 3 Lite Smart Thermostat Pro, a 3-ton coil, all parts required to install, and includes the installation cost (auditor visit fee not included). You are responsible for upgrading the AC breaker to 30 amps, upgrading the AC wire to 10/2 from the electric panel to the air conditioner (new heat pump location), and running an 18/8 wire from the Heat Pump unit to the furnace, in order for the heat pump system to operate normally. Gree® Flexx® 38,000 BTU 3-ton heat pump is the right size heat pump for a house up to 2,500 sqft. For houses between 2,500 sqft and 3,500 sqft, a 4-ton heat pump is required, which the price is different from the 3-ton Gree® Flex® heat pump mentioned above. The $7,100 is the maximum heat pump rebate amount for existing Enbridge customers., and $5,600 is the maximum heat pump rebate amount for non-Enbridge customers.
