Troubleshooting Your Water Heater
Natural gas and propane water heaters must be fixed by a trained and licensed technician. Here are a few things you can do if you’re having problems with your unit before giving us a call:
No Hot Water
If you have a power vent, tankless or electric water heater, make sure your unit is plugged in. Also, check to make sure the related circuit breaker in your electrical panel hasn’t been tripped.
Water Heater is Leaking
Turn off the cold water shut-off valve on the water line coming into the water heater. If you can’t find it, turn off your main water shut-off valve to stop the water coming into your home. Then give us a call.
When Should I Replace My Water Heater?
With regular inspections and maintenance, a gas water heater should 15+ years. An electric tank should last 10 to 15 years. But if you’re starting to experience any of the issues listed below, it may be time for a change. The after-hours service call for residential properties in our serviced area fee is $240 + HST. For commercial properties, the service call fee is $240 + HST during business hours and $375 + HST outside of our business hours. We reserve the right to change or cancel this offer at any time without prior notice. The maintenance fee for a residential gas furnace or central air conditioner is $135 + HST, and for commercial rooftop units is $250 + HST.
